Where to Eat & Drink in the King valley

There is so much to do in King Valley, and your time will rush past quickly. Take some time and pre-plan your stay. Book directly for lunch or dinner, and book early on long weekends and festival weekends.

 

FOOD

The King Valley boasts an array of fantastic dining options, from fine dining to the best hamburgers in the area. If you're planning a short stay, be sure to make your reservations early.

 

  • Chrismont Cellar Door, Restaurant & Larder is Open for lunch from Friday to Tuesday, this restaurant offers excellent food and a stunning view. Call (03) 5729 8220 to make a booking.

  • Mountain View Hotel (located a short walk away) offers great pub meals for lunch and dinner seven days a week. Call (03) 5729 8270 to make a booking.

  • Dal Zotto Wines. Their cellar door and Trattoria-style restaurant serve lunch from Thursday to Sunday. Call (03) 5729 8321 to make a booking. It's a short 15-minute walk.

  • Gracebrook Wines. The cellar door and restaurant are open for lunch from Thursday to Sunday, offering a friendly, family-style dining experience. Call (03) 5729 3562 to make a booking.

  • King River Brewing.  The taproom and pizzeria serve dinner on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, with lunch on Saturday and Sunday. Don't miss Thursday Night Taco Night! Call (03) 5729 3604 to make a booking.

  • Sam Miranda Winery is open for lunch seven days a week. Call (03) 5727 3888 to make a booking.

  • King River Café is open for lunch from Wednesday to Monday. Call (03) 5727 3461 to make a booking.

  • Moyhu Hotel. Serves pub meals all week except Mondays, with a special Parma night on Wednesdays. Call (03) 5727 9333 to make a booking.

  • Brown Brothers. Their fine-dining restaurant and bistro are perfect for special occasions. They are open seven days a week and serve excellent food, good wines, and great service. Call (03) 5720 5500 to make a booking.

  • Hobbledehoy Café (located a short walk away) serves breakfast and lunch five days a week and hosts a great cocktail night every Saturday. Be sure to try their homemade almond croissants and delicious cakes. Pia, Eric, and Chris are fantastic hosts, and it's our go-to coffee spot.

  • Cheshunt General Store is known for the best burgers in the valley. This takeaway spot also sells general supplies, meat, and vegetables. It functions as a post office. Enjoy fresh, delicious Milawa Bread on Saturdays. Open seven days a week—tell Cath I sent you!

  • The Oven Bakery & Café offers organic whole-flour bread, pastries, and coffee. It offers a Pizza Buffet on Friday nights but is closed on Mondays and Thursdays. The bakery also serves as the local bottle shop for takeaway wine and beer.

  • Milawa Bread & Kitchen is known for the best bread and pastries in the valley, including the delicious CRUFFIN, a lemon curd-filled croissant square. They also offer delightful paninis, croissants, and pies. The restaurant is open seven days a week until 4 PM.

  • Ineeta Café in Moyhu: Serves excellent coffee, cakes, and breakfast/lunch seven days a week.

WINE

The nearest wineries to 3BlackSHEDS are Pizzini and Dal Zotto, which you can easily walk to. In addition, Chrismont, Politini, and Darling Estate are all just a few minutes away by car or bike. A bit further out, you can find Francesco, Gracebrook, Red Feet, and King River Estate, all within a 20-minute drive. Even further afield are Sam Miranda and Brown Brothers, along with many others.   • King River Brewing is down the road (10 min) and has wonderful boutique beers to suit all tastes, a great beer garden, and games.

  • Further afield, you have the Bright Brewery in Bright (1 hour 20 min) and the Bridge Road Brewers in Beechworth ( 1 hour)
