Pizzini

The Pizzini family is renowned for their generous hospitality, commitment to
innovation and passion for their Italian heritage.

At their cellar door you can taste the Italian varietals that Pizzini pioneered in Australia, Sangiovese and Nebbiolo. Alongside these are the very popular Pinot Grigio, Prosecco and many others.

Also on offer throughout the year is a range of in-depth wine experiences, wine and food events, fun (and delicious) classes at Katrina Pizzini’s A Tavola! cooking school, giant games to keep the kids happy and vineyard accommodation. The Pizzini family also own the Mountain View Hotel in Whitfield where you can enjoy a meal with great local wine and beer, either by the open fire or in the shady beer garden overlooking Jessie’s Creek.

Chrismont

At Chrismont’s elevated cellar door, restaurant and larder, you float above the vines
while looking out over the King Valley.

Since the first Chrismont vines were planted in 1980, owners Arnie and Jo Pizzini
have become known for producing an extensive selection of Mediterranean and
classic European varietals.

The wines, including Riesling, Fiano, Pinot Grigio, Barbera and Sagrantino, originate from their cool-climate vineyards in Cheshunt, Edi and Whitfield.

In the contemporary restaurant, you can enjoy award-winning dishes that draw on
the traditional flavours of Chrismont’s northern and southern Italian heritage.                              The a la carte menu is designed for either a quick, tasty bite or a long, leisurely lunch.

Dal Zotto

The winemaking family – Otto, his wife, Elena, and their sons, Michael and Christian – have pioneered Prosecco in Australia, planting it in 1999 and releasing the first vintage in 2004. And they’ve loved seeing it become a firm favourite for everyday celebrations.

Dal Zotto has received one of the greatest honours in Australian wine, with a five-star rating and being named the 2020 Halliday Wine Companion Dark Horse Winery of The Year.

At the cellar door, Dal Zotto’s range of awarded wines are available to taste and
purchase, with many of the wines not available anywhere else.

In the trattoria, try homemade pasta, pizza and produce picked fresh from Elena’s garden.

King River Estate

Located in Victoria’s North East, only 30 minutes from Wangaratta, in the picturesque King Valley; King River Estate was established in 1990 when the first vines were planted on the estate.

The vineyard is on the banks of the King River and located under a small mountain in what is arguably the gateway to the upper King Valley.  Using alluvial deposits and being close to the water table, the vines enjoy rich minerals and a good natural water supply, minimising the need to irrigate even during the dryer months.  In the winery we also use minimal intervention in the wine making process such as using wild yeast to assist in a natural fermentation, which allows the wine to show its true personality thus creating a more complex range of wines.

Red Feet Wines

A boutique winery in the King Valley were the owners want to share the experience of making finely crafted wine, and let you take the time to grow up again!

Damien and Megan only stumbled on the King Valley, and have never looked back, it is picturesque, with lush pastures and stunning river, cool in summer and crisp in winter .When they decided to take the risk and set up Red Feet, they knew there is plenty to learn, mistakes to be made, but great times to be had.

Their wine reflects there desire to have attention to detail, and to start a conversation whether about the variety, flavours or method of vinification.

King River Brewing

The brewery produces high quality and well-balanced beer for all to enjoy. We deliver full flavour from natural processes with drinkability favoured over being too fastidious about beer styles or using chemicals to increase head retention. This may sound like a given with most craft beers in Australia however King River beer styles are unique, easy to drink and full of flavour. With a gentle nod to our location we focus on both farmhouse and easy drinking styles of beers. Something for everyone.

The rustic, friendly and comfortable tasting room is built inside an old tobacco kiln on site, once part of the areas previous industry. The brewery itself is housed inside an old tobacco grading shed which is right next to the tap room.

Darling Estate

The Darling family has lived in the King Valley for 100 years. We have grown apples, tobacco, grapes, and raised sheep and cattle. Darling Estate Wines and Koombahla Vineyard are owned and run by John Darling, the fourth generation of the family in the valley.

Our Koombahla vineyard sits in the hills above Whitfield in the upper King Valley at elevations between 250 and 350m above sea level. Nestled under the Victorian Alps we get snow on the surrounding hills each year. During the summer, the katabatic breezes come down from the mountains keep the nights cool and encourage the vines to produce fruit with intense flavours and colour.
